Activity 1  What's in the Title?
1.      Guide all students to talk about the title, "Going Places".
2.      Ask the following questions:
◦  What does the title, “Going Places” mean?
◦  What are the interesting places you want to visit?
◦  Why do you want to visit these places?

Activity 2  Holiday Spots
1.      Draw all students' attention to the pictures on the page.
2.      Asks the following questions:
◦  What do you see in these pictures?
◦  Where are these places?
◦  What can you do in these places?

3.              To pronounce the targeted vocabulary
DURATION : 40 MINUTES
LESSSON OUTLINE :
Activity 1  Identify Me
1.      Get students to look at the pictures on the page.
2.      Get students to say aloud the following words:
accommodation, transportation, people and activities
3.      Teacher asks the following questions:
◦  Can you tell me the accommodation in the picture?
◦  Can you tell me the transportation in the picture?
◦  Can you name other types of transportation?
◦  Can you tell me the activities that you see in the picture?
◦  Who are the people in the picture?

Activity 2  Listen and Say Aloud
1.      Play the Audio-Video DVD to allow students to listen and practise saying aloud the words related to holidays.
2.      Pause after each picture to allow all students to internalise the targeted vocabulary.
3.      Ensure that all students participate actively.  Replay if necessary.

Activity 3  Classify Me
1.      Tell students that they are going to play a vocabulary game.
2.      Explain the rules of the game to the students:
Step 1:  Divide students into groups of four.
Step 2:  Students listen to the audio. Teacher chooses a word.
Step 3:  Students quickly shout out the correct category the word belongs to.  Example:  chalet – accommodation
Step 4: Teacher repeats this process for all the words. The group that scores the highest marks wins the game.
3.      Teacher repeats this process for all the targeted words.

LESSSON OUTLINE :
Activity 1  Zak's Holiday
1.      Draw students' attention to the picture.
2.      Get all students to predict what the pictures are about by asking the following questions:
◦  What do you see in the pictures?
◦  What do you think this video is about?
3.      Play the audio-video DVD.  Get students to watch the video.

Activity 2  Pause and Practise
1.      Play the audio-video DVD and pause at the following sentence patterns:
     I just came back from a holiday with ...
     We went to ...
     We stayed in …
     We took …
     We watched …
     I felt …
2.      At every pause, teacher asks students questions to help them be aware of the sentence patterns used for talking about holidays.
3.      Questions asked must allow students to use the sentence patterns in their answers.
Suggested questions:
•       Where did you go for a holiday?
•       Where did you stay?
•       Who dis you go with?
•       How did you go to your holiday destination?
•       How did you feel about your holiday?
4.      Ensure that all students participate actively.  Replay and pause if necessary.

Activity 2  My Holiday
1.      Get students to think about what they did during the holidays.
2.      Teacher asks the following questions to guide students.
•       Where did you go for your holiday?
•       How did you get there?
•       Who did you go with?
•       Where did you stay?
•       What did you do?
•       How did you feel about your holiday?
Teacher shares his/her holiday experience to guide students in giving their responses.
Suggested text:
•       Where did you go for your holidays?
During the last school holidays, I went to Langkawi.
•       How did you get to Langkawi?
I took a ferry to the island.
•       Where did you stay?
I stayed at a beautiful chalet next to the beach.
•       What did you do there?
I went for a walk by the beach.  I had dinner at a seafood restaurant.  I swam in the sea.  I went on a banana boat ride.  I
went shopping to buy some souvenirs for my friends.  I bought two key chains, a mug and a T-shirt.
•       How did you feel about your holiday?
I felt very happy.
3.             Get students to work in pairs and tell their parents about their school holidays.  Use the questions to guide them to talk about their holidays.
Note:
For students who have not gone for a holiday, allow them to talk about the activities they did during the holidays.  For example:
went to the cinema for a movie, went on a picnic, played futsal.
