LESSSON OUTLINE :
                Activity 1  What's in the Title?              
1.      Guide all students to talk about the title, "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle".
2.      Ask the following questions:
◦  Where can you see these words?
◦  What does “reduce” mean?
◦  What does “reuse” mean?
◦  What does “recycle” mean?

Activity 2  What's in the Garbage?
1.      Draw students' attention to the pictures.
2.      Asks the following questions:
     What do you see in this picture?
     How do you feel when you see this picture?

Activity 3  Practise Garbage Separation!
1.      Lead all students to talk about the kinds of garbage that they throw away everyday.
2.      Teacher asks the following questions:
     What things do you throw away every day?
     What are some things that you should recycle?

2.              To build vocabulary
3.              To pronounce the targeted vocabulary
DURATION : 40 MINUTES
LESSSON OUTLINE :
Activity 1  Name Me!
1.      Get students to look at the pictures.
2.      Ask students the following questions:
     What can you see in the picture?
     How many bins can you see in the picture?
     What are the colours of the bins?

Activity 2  Listen and Say Aloud
1.      Play the Audio-Video DVD to allow students to listen to and practise saying aloud the waste items and recycle bins.
2.      Pause after each waste item and recycle bin to allow all students to internalise the targeted vocabulary.
3.      Ensure that all students participate actively.  Replay if necessary.

Activity 3  Classify Me
1.      Draw students' attention to the three bins in the picture.
2.      Ask students the following question:
•       Can you all tell me what items go into each of the bins?
3.      Play the Audio-Video DVD and get students to say aloud the answers.
Note:
Teacher needs to pause after each waste item and ask the questions to elicit responses.

1.              To learn the sentence patterns used for describing a recycling process
2.              To practise using the sentence patterns used for describing a recycling process
DURATION : 80 MINUTES
LESSSON OUTLINE :
Activity 1  Direct Me!
1.      Draw students' attention to the picture.
2.      Get all students to predict what the picture is about by asking the following questions:
◦  What do you see on this page?
◦  What do you think this video is about?
3.      Play the audio-video DVD.  Get students to watch the video.

Activity 2  Pause and Practise
1.      Play the audio-video DVD and pause at the following sentence patterns:
     First, …
     Second, …
     Next, …
     Then, …
     Finally, …
At every pause, teacher initiates discussion by asking students to retell the step. This will reinforce the use of the sentence patterns.
2.      Get students to retell the steps in the video at the pauses selected to encourage the use of the sentence patterns.
For example, pause at the process:
First, cut the drink packet
Teacher asks the following question:
•       What is the first step?
(Accept answers that are not given in complete sentences.)
3.      Ensure that all students participate actively.  Replay and pause if necessary

4.              To practise the sentence patterns related to the processes of recycling waste items
DURATION : 80 MINUTES
LESSSON OUTLINE :
Activity 1  Look and Tell
1.      Draw students' attention to the pictures.
2.      Ask the following questions:
     What do you see in Picture A?
     What do you see in Picture B?
     What do you see in Picture C?
     What do you see in Picture D?
3.      Get students to work in groups of five. They look at the pictures and choose a recycled product from either B or D.
4.      Each group will discuss the process of making the product based on the pictures.
5.      Allocate 20 minutes for this group work.
6.             Each group will present in the process.  Each member will take turns to describe ONE step in the process of making eitther a pencil holder or puppet in his or her own group.

Activity 2  Gather and Report
1.      Get students to work in pairs.  Students took at the pictures and choose a recycled product.  (Product B or Product D)
2.      Each pair describes the process of making the chosen recycled product based on Picture A or C.
3.      Students are given 15 minutes to prepare the task.
4.      Students take turns to talk about the process.

1.      Draw students' attention to picture.
2.      Ask the following questions:
◦  What do you see in the picture?
◦  What is the student talking about?

Activity 2  Show and Tell
1.      Tell students that they are going to talk about their recycled product individually.
2.      Teacher models the structure:
I have a plastic bottle.  I am going to recycle it.  I am going to make a vase for my mum.  It is for her birthday.  First, ...
3.      Get students to sit in a semi-circle and take turns to show and tell.
4.             Encourage other students to ask questions during the show and tell sessions. This is to ensure that all students are actively involved during the show and tell activity.
Suggested questions:
•       What do you use to make your item?
•       How long did it take you to make this item?
•       Why do you choose to make this item?

3.      Tell students that they are going to make a product from a recyclable item.
4.      Tell students to select a recyclable item brought by their group members.
5.      Allocate 30 minutes for the groups to discuss the process involved in making the products.

Activity 2  Present It!
1.      Groups take turns to describe the processes to the class.
2.      Get students to vote on the best presentation and give reasons for their choice.
3.      Ensure all groups get the opportunity to present.
