LESSSON OUTLINE :
Activity 1  What's in the Title?
1.      Guide all students to talk about the title, 'Our Heritage'.
2.      Ask the following questions:
◦  What does the word, 'heritage' mean?
◦  What does the title 'Our Heritage' mean?
◦  What do you find special about our country, Malaysia?

Activity 2  Malaysian Heritage
1.      Draw all students' attention to the pictures.
2.      Ask the following questions:
     Can you tell me what you see in Picture 1?
     Can you name the different dances in Picture 2?
     What do you see in Picture 3?
     Can you name the food that you see?
     What are the people doing in Picture 4?
     Can you name the traditional games that you see in Picture 4?

DURATION : 40 MINUTES
LESSSON OUTLINE :
Activity 1  Name me
1.      Get students to look at the pictures on the page.
Ask the following questions:
◦  What do you see on this page?
◦  Can you name the things, dances, buildings and food that you see on this page?

Activity 2  Listen and Say Aloud
1.      Play the Audio-Video DVD to allow students to listen to and practise saying aloud the targeted vocabulary.
2.      Pause after each picture to allow all students to internalise the targeted vocabulary.
3.      Ensure that all students participate actively.  Replay if necessary.

Activity 3  Spell It Right!
1.      Divide students into four groups.
2.      Carry out a 'Spelling Bee' competition.
3.      Teacher selects the pictures at random from the Audio-Video DVD
4.             Students spell the word based on the selected picture. Alternatively, teacher can say the word and students take turns to spell the targeted word.
5.      The group that gets the highest score wins.

1.              To learn the sentence patterns used for describing a ketupat weaving process.
2.              To practise using the sentence patterns used for describing the ketupat weaving process
DURATION : 80 MINUTES
LESSSON OUTLINE :
Activity 1  Ketupat Weaving
1.      Draw students' to the series of pictures on ketupat weaving.
2.      Get all students to predict what the video is about by asking the following questions:
◦  What do you see on this page?
◦  What do you think this video is about?
3.      Play the audio-video DVD.  Get students to watch the video.

Activity 2  Pause and Practise
1.      Play the audio-video DVD and pause at the following sentence patterns:
     First, place A over B …
     Second, …
     Next, …
     Then, …
     Finally, …
2.             At every pause, teacher initiates discussion to help students be made aware of the sentence patterns used for processes and procedures.
3.      Get students to respond or retell the situations in the video at the pauses selected which encourage the use of the sentence patterns.
4.      Ensure that all students participate actively.  Replay and pause if necessary.

Activity 3  Step-by-step
1.      Students work in pairs and find out more about the process of making other traditional crafts.
2.      Students share the information with their classmates.

Activity 1  Look and Share
1.      Get students to work in pairs and talk about the festivals on the page.
2.             Guide students to ask and answer the following questions: Example:
•       What is the festival in Picture 1?
•       Who celebrates this festival?
•       What do people do during this festival?
3.      Students work in pairs and take turns to ask and answer questions based on the pictures.
4.      Encourage students to share more information about the festival that they celebrate.

Activity 2  Tell Me More! (B5DL1E1)
1.      Draw students' attention to each situation on the page.
2.      Get students to work in pairs.  Each takes turn to ask the following questions:
•       Which festival do you celebrate?
•       What do you do on that special day?

Activity 3  Festival Quiz (B3DL2E1)
1.      Get students to search for more information on a festive celebration of their choice with customs and practices exclusive to it.
2.             Divide the class into groups.  Carry out the quiz during the lesson by getting the students to ask and answer the questions: Example of questions:
•       Why do the Chinese wear red during Chinese New Year?
•       Deepavali is also known as Festival of Lights. Why?
3.      The group that scores the highest marks wins

Activity 1  Trigger Your Senses
1.      Draw students' attention to the picture.            .
2.      Ask the following questions:
◦  What do you see in the picture?
◦  What do you think the boy is talking about?

Activity 2  Show and Tell
1.             Get the students into groups. Tell the students that they are going to prepare a collage of food items for the three main ethnic groups in Malaysia:  Malay, chinese and Indian.
2.      Teacher give the following guidelines:
•       Choose one ethnic group
•       Choose a festival
•       Choose the types of special food served during the festival
•       Cut and paste the pictures of the chosen food items on a piece of paper / poster sheet
•       Encourage students to be creative with the collage
•       Pick one dish to describe the ingredients and the process of preparing the dish
•       Share the information with their friends from other groups
3.      Ensure all groups get the opportunity to presentation. Invite representative from groups to present.
4.      Get students to vote on the best presentation and give reasons for their choice.

LESSSON OUTLINE :
Activity 1  My Heritage
1.      Draw students' attention to the picture.
2.      Ask the following questions:
◦  What do you see in the picture?
◦  What are they doing?
3.             Tell students they are going to design a pamphlet on Malaysian Cultural Heritage for a state that they want to highlight (food, costumes, games and so on).
4.      Get students to work in groups of five.
5.      Lead and encourage students to make a choice on a state in Malaysia and the cultural heritage they want to highlight for that state.
6.      In groups, students create and design their pamphlets.
7.      Get students to work in groups and plan their presentations.
8.      Each pamphlet must include:
•       name of the state
•       pictures of Malaysian cultural heritage (food / costumes / games / crafts and so on)

Activity 2  Treasure Our Heritage
1.      Invite each group to share the pamphlet with the class.  Each member in the group must be given a chance to present.
2.      Guide students to do a presentation.
•       Greet the audience
•       Introduce group members
•       Introduce the featured state in Malaysia
•       Present the cultural heritage of the state
•       Present the national heritage of the state
3.      Get students to vote on the best presentation and give reasons for their choice.
4.      Ensure all groups get the opportunity to present their pamphlets.
